Homesteading Is Not Vacation

It seems sometimes people think that homesteading is a vacation where you can sit back and just enjoy nature and see the pretty sites but not really do anything. I don’t care if its a 1000 year old tree. It’s a maple tree and it serves a purpose for my family. To ignore it would mean being a bad steward of the land.

About Zachary Bauer

Zachary lives with his wife, two sons and his wife's parents on An American Homestead deep in the mountains of the American Ozarks. They all moved there together in July of 2013 where they began to build the homestead. They are off-grid with the exception of a phone line.

  1. You all do a great job there on your homestead. I enjoy SO MUCH watching your site and seeing what all you are up to. Your cheerfulness and enthusiastic attitude is one your most valuable assets. Watching your family persevere and grow, and accomplish your goals, lifts my heart and actually makes me happy and I am sure 99% of the rest of your viewers feel the same.

Please DO NOT let the naysayers get you down. There is a place for them, but it isn’t on your comments page. They don’t have any positive feedback for you or us. They don’t get it, they will never get it, they don’t have the heart for this kind of life, yet they think they have the right to dictate to others. Maybe one of you can screen and delete these people. It is not worth it for you to waste your time or spirit on them. Don’t let them cause you stress, or burnout. Don’t let them ruin this for everyone else.

You and your family are the best.

With heartfelt appreciation, Your supporter, ML
