When we raised cattle, I would be very happy if someone asked me to buy a cow from me. That would have made my life so much easier. People don’t need to be afraid to ask.
If you think they are shutting down the farmers now, just wait.
I get a kick out of being made fun of for years for raising animals and doing all that work.

I lived in San Jose, CA. I worked for the Transit Agency there (VTA). My coworkers and I would put our money together and buy a steer 90 minutes away in Manteca. We also found a dairy farmer in Modesto, CA. not too far away that sold war klim. Sometimes we would by a lamb or a goat and have it slaughtered. There were always Amish communities that sold butter, cheese, and high quality food and furniture.
I haven’t been inside a Walmart in years.
Now I’m in rural Oklahoma and I’m closer to real food. The Amish not only have high quality products but are more friendly than corporate America. And then there are homesteaders where I get my honey, eggs, peanut butter, jams, and friendships.
You are right, No excuse to go hungry. If you can say hello to someone then you will be fed.
Gee, every farmer and rancher near me seem to be doing just fine. They mostly drive new trucks, their wives stay home, their kids are in all the activities. Ranching sure seems like it’s been pretty profitable for several years now by the numbers… every time you ask for specifics, or why they weren’t praising Trump all year last year when fuel was cheap and feed was 40% off of covid highs, or all of the subsidies and programs since he came into office directly supporting small and medium farmers and ranchers… they just get really quiet and move on. Meanwhile – I know tons of farmers and ranchers locally and they’re all doing quite well financially.
I swear, I just said the other day I was thinking about getting a baby beef calf or 2. I live in the suburbs but everyone around here had ponies and barns. our barn fell down years ago. i know i can handle egg layer chickens, but cows might be too big for me.
Rabbits are a great source of meat.
They are quiet, so neighbors often won’t know.
A buck and a few does produce a lot of meat.
You can cull one at a time for a meal, as needed. You don’t have to deal with hundreds of pounds of beef.
You can grow food for them.
Their poop is great for the garden.
why can’t you saw raw milk? They sell it in the grocery store near me in AZ. I know some states its illegal to sell but it is more than free out here so I don’t think you can’t talk about it.

I can assure any farmers that, If the nation moves further toward socialism (democratic that is), that will not help in any way.
