  1. Consider having yr homeschooler starting a business as their curriculum! We were broke. Now my son and i work about 4 hrs 3 days a week and make more than my full-time wonderful hubby does. Use homeschool to create financial independence for their future. Homeschool doesn’t have to be a hardship.

Little biz for elementary. Save the money for middle school real-estate. High-school learn trusts and investment..hust a thought

  2. When I discovered my preschooler was being held for bad behavior in a padded room I had the situation investigated by an outside entity only.to find out my child was being abused by the teacher! Defending yourself should not be considered bad behavior. We immediately removed our child and our super smart kind kiddo will graduate next year. Parents and children do have rights but don’t get me wrong I am all about accountability. My child doesn’t get away with whatever they want ,time outs were often used by us as well as other things. Don’t be afraid to homeschool your kids.

  3. Next time put castor oil on it and rub it in twice a day,
Discipline starts wit self-discipline, which we can only learn from our parents if they have it. Go figure.
Schools are training for prison life.

  4. I taught for 40 years in both public and private schools. I used various forms of discipline with great success. I love and respected my students and demanded respect in return. My desk was always in the back of the room and when a student misbehaved, I would move their desk right next to mine and told them they could renter the “population” by proving to me that they could behave! The children considered this to be a terrible punishment!!! It was very effective! If a child was in need of a spanking, parents were called and they could either come in and do the spanking or take their child home for the remainder of the day. Very effective!

  5. Im 54 and when I went to Jr high and high school I moved to Texas. Once there i learned quickly about the board of education. It was a paddle with holes drilled in. Guess what, I learned about authority and why not to test it. It took one time. After that I behaved well. Before that mom, and all those she chose to help her mom let me know every one could paddle my behind. I never was beat, but was paddled. There is no more accountability. But I grew up with what authority and accountability is. Just saying today’s kids approach life from a I am god standpoint that makes them dismiss all authority hate all authority and live by emotion and stupidity rather than lessons learned. Society is no longer what it once was. Respect, authority, common sense, morals, values have all departed except for where brave folks still teach it.

  6. Zach how do you edit your videos? I want to learn to do splicing of footage and voice overs with the gif type inserts also. Those amuse me when watching. I’m just starting a channel on cleaning. It’s GoshenGardens25, and so far I’m just trying to figure out how to even upload.

  7. Zach, oh my goodness!
When my oldest was in school (before we permanently yanked them out to homeschool), he had a good teacher that asked, “How can I help your son focus?”
I looked around her room and said, “you have a lot of brightly colored posters on the walls that are attractive to childrens eyes. My son lives in a calm peaceful home where we don’t put a lot of things on the walls.
“Could you make a cubby in a corner somewhere where my son could go and be able to focus on his work without all the distraction?”
She did so, and found that my son would put himself in this little cubby whenever he got overwhelmed.
At 26, my son still does this. His room (unfortunately he lost his job and is at home recovering income so he can move out again-hopefully soon) is his sanctuary.
Coping skills are hard to learn in overstimulating environments. It would be great if teachers learned this.

  8. I never thought I would see the day that you, Zach, would mock something this egregious. While I think that everyone that can homeschool their children should, some cannot. It’s a far cry from a paddling to putting a child in a plywood prison. This is clearly not the answer and your attitude about this is disgusting. How pissed would you be if you found out that your son was placed in this box without any regard for his safety? I have followed you for many years, but this is the line. This loyal follower is out. Bye.

  9. Dude I expected better from you, to even think that school is a useful thing, or that kids should be disciplined for what leaving? For what defending themselves? A teacher tries to paddle me I’d mess with them and find out their address, this is a ridiculous take, yk what happens when they don’t play well with others… they leave or they outsmart the system (I’m the ladder) just a ridiculous take, don’t hit kids, let them mess themselves up, if they aren’t smart enough to outsmart the system, I can’t believe someone like u would promote the paddle, just ridiculous, never hit a lid, ik what I’d be thinking if I got hit yk, like cmon Zach ur so much smarter, get out ur traditionalist bs

  10. U punish ur kids? People like u man… crazy, yk what happens when I got timeout I got up and went somewhere else, when my dad spanned me when I was little I punched him in the balls, but y’all don’t have balls, y’all don’t have capability like me, it’s just sad y’all are so… domesticated… is the best word

  11. The grade school I went to had a very significant looking paddle with holes drilled in it and a long handle hanging on the wall in the office. The principal was the only person who could touch it, nobody wanted to get the paddle. I’m fairly certain that nobody ever did get the paddle, but the threat kept some children in line pretty well. We did get time outs and sit in the corner time. Most of all it got children to stop calm down and think about what they were doing and what they should be doing. I think little solitary confinement boxes are a bad idea. They can become abused too easily and some children have real problems with confined spaces in dark spaces and places they can’t get out of. Also, the experience that Native American peoples had with their children being forced to go to Indian boarding schools in both of our countries was terrible. The children suffered from malnutrition. The children got sick and died. The children just disappeared into unmarked graveyards. They have every reason to not entirely trust government schools.
I do think that teachers pay rates should be connected to the success they have in teaching children to read, write, history and learn the scientific process. Our children get out of schools barely literate or illiterate and all of our school systems demand more money to be better educators. My aunt was a real one room school teacher. She taught a mixed group of the first eight grades they essentially had almost no budget. The school district paid for books and a one-room building, outhouses and a propane stove to keep warm in the winter. Nearly all of the rest of their of their materials were scrounged from here and there. Her children were educated. They could read when they went to town school for high school. They were six months to a year ahead of the town students. My observation over the years about school teachers is. There were two or three really excellent teachers who were really engaged in teaching. Eight or nine teachers that were pretty good if boredom hasn’t taken over. Three or four who should not be teaching the school at all.
