I use buckets half the year in Alberta for watering livestock. I water the chickens all year long with buckets. I’ve built waterers from buckets
Yes and when they bust I use them for plants. Lol
With Gamma lids
Your decision saying the bucket is most valuable is the most intelligent ever. Before the bucket was the basket weaving beginning with early civilization . First it was the basket then the leather made items to carry even water then metal pots and now plastic buckets. The greatest invention in the world still in use today. The ancient carvings around the world show people holding a type of handbag made of various materials. Native Americans ,the most isolated people until recent time utilized leather for transporting their belongings. Their use of a medicine bag of leather is still in use today . Civilization trade could not work until someone invented a wat to transport materials
I can agree with the bucket. I use them daily.
I agree the bucket is indispensable. But my mind went to “the hands”. There are so many tools that come to mind though but I could not do without the buckets. I also use them for everything.
I think I need a few more 5 gallon buckets, thanks Zach!
I live in Washington’s rain forest. Nature showed me that a bucket with a little chicken feed is a great mouse trap. One day I left the 1 gallon chicken feed bucket outside over night. It rained & the bucket had a few inches of water & five mice that climbed into the bucket. They went swimming & didn’t make it. After this lesson, we have bucket mouse traps where we know the mice are. So far this year, we have 22 mice that didn’t make it.
Yes! Thank you for reminding me to get some more, I have a few the sun cracked lol My utility trailer is also used often
My husband made a seat for me with the 5 gal bucket. I keep garden supplies and fold a cushion to sit on. I’m 68 with a bad back, it’s perfect. I must have 10 of them for various uses around the house/farm.
Answer @1:38. 5 gallon bucket. Don’t know that I agree since I just recycle my cleaned Tidy Cats litter buckets for most stuff around here.
My solar system makes everything else doable.
I really like my kubota m6060 with a grapple
I’m the most valuable tool on my homestead.
The buckets are useful in just about every aspect of farm life, even in my kitchen to keep varmints out of my food storage!
It’s unfair to call that a tool because that is a point of view. It’s an item that no Homestead could do without. I buy him 50 a year because you can plant in them and do everything with them, but I wouldn’t call him a tool.
Wagon pull cart, 5gal buckets, chainsaws, generators, tractor/skidsteer, wood splitter , all sorts of power tools.
pro tip, go to any mexican restaurant and ask them if they have any empty sour cream 5 gallon buckets they want out of the way.
they will usually be happy to give them away.
I keep about 20 in my container garden to collect rain water. I also store wood pellets in them in a storage building. 1 bag fills 2 of them.
also use them with holes in the bottom to catch my rabbit drops when I wash down under their cages on a tin roofing and gutter cleaning system.
cant beat saving 5 bucks a pop
I would say the most valuable thing on the Homestead. That you use everyday all day long. Is the thing that sits on top of your shoulders?
The most valuable tool no matter where you are is the Bible. After that I would say a backscratcher. Whether on a homestead or not, you need The Creator of Heaven and Earth first, and a good backscratcher makes a great gift.
